THE WORKING

How this calculator works

Calendar age uses actual calendar months and leap years instead of dividing days by 365. This tool counts completed months from the birth date and then the remaining days. In shorter months, anniversaries fall on the last available day.

The formula

Age = completed calendar years + remaining months + remaining days

A quick example

From 15 June 2000 to 1 October 2026, the calendar age is 26 years, 3 months, and 16 days.

How to use this calculator

  1. Enter the date of birth.
  2. Choose a target date; it defaults to today on your device.
  3. Calculate to see calendar age and total time elapsed.

Next birthday

The next birthday is on or after the chosen target date. A birthday today is 0 days away. A 29 February birthday is observed on 28 February in a non-leap year for this calculation; legal and personal conventions can differ.

A few common questions

How are leap-day birthdays handled?
A 29 February birthday reaches its calendar anniversary on 28 February in a non-leap year under this tool’s convention. Legal rules may differ.
Can I calculate age on a future date?
Yes. Pick any target date on or after the birth date, up to 31 December 2100.
Why not divide the number of days by 365?
Leap years have 366 days and calendar months have different lengths. Calendar arithmetic preserves those differences.
Are both endpoint dates included?
No. Total days measures elapsed days. The same birth date and target date produces zero days.
