THE WORKING

How this calculator works

The earlier date is included and the later date is excluded by default, so adjacent dates span one day. Include end date counts both endpoints. Reversed inputs are sorted before counting. Monday through Friday are weekdays and Saturday and Sunday are weekends, regardless of local working schedules.

The formula

Total = elapsed days + 1 when including the end date
Complete weeks contribute 5 weekdays and 2 weekend days; count any remaining dates individually.

A quick example

From Monday 1 January 2024 to Monday 8 January 2024, excluding the end date gives 7 days: 5 weekdays and 2 weekend days. Including it gives 8 days and 6 weekdays.

How to use this calculator

  1. Enter both dates in either order.
  2. Choose whether to include the later end date.
  3. Calculate total days and the weekday/weekend split.

A few common questions

Are public holidays excluded?
No. A holiday falling Monday–Friday still counts as a weekday.
What does the same start and end date return?
Zero by default, or one day when including the end date.
Does it use my country’s working week?
No. The fixed weekday definition is Monday–Friday.
