Frequency Converter

Convert cycles-per-second measurements between common frequency scales.

SI prefixes scale frequency by powers of one thousand. This does not convert processor frequency into performance or infer a signal’s bandwidth.

THE WORKING

How this calculator works

SI prefixes scale frequency by powers of one thousand. This does not convert processor frequency into performance or infer a signal’s bandwidth.

The formula

Target frequency = input × source hertz factor / target hertz factor.

A quick example

1 MHz equals 1,000 kHz or 1,000,000 Hz.

How to use this calculator

  1. Choose the settings that match your scenario, using the units shown beside each field.
  2. Enter value, from, to.
  3. Calculate, then review the method and assumptions alongside the results.

A few common questions

Does a higher clock speed always mean a faster computer?
No. Architecture, workload, core count and other limits also affect performance.
Are these decimal prefixes?
Yes. Frequency prefixes use powers of 1,000, not binary storage factors.
