Temperature Converter

Temperature conversion with explicit units and a clear result.

Temperature scales have different zero points. Celsius and Kelvin increments are equal; a Celsius increment equals 1.8 Fahrenheit increments. Values below absolute zero (−273.15 °C, −459.67 °F, 0 K) are rejected.

THE WORKING

How this calculator works

Temperature scales have different zero points. Celsius and Kelvin increments are equal; a Celsius increment equals 1.8 Fahrenheit increments. Values below absolute zero (−273.15 °C, −459.67 °F, 0 K) are rejected.

The formula

Kelvin = °C + 273.15
Kelvin = (°F + 459.67) × 5/9
Target = (Kelvin − target offset) / target factor

A quick example

0 °C = 32 °F; 100 °C = 373.15 K; −40 °C = −40 °F.

How to use this calculator

  1. Enter a value using a decimal point.
  2. Choose the source and target units.
  3. Read the live result or swap units to reverse the direction.

A few common questions

Which convention does this converter use?
Temperature scales have different zero points. Celsius and Kelvin increments are equal; a Celsius increment equals 1.8 Fahrenheit increments. Values below absolute zero (−273.15 °C, −459.67 °F, 0 K) are rejected.
Can I reverse the conversion?
Yes. Swap exchanges the units, keeps your input amount and calculates again.
Why is the displayed result rounded?
The calculation uses the full stored factor. Results show up to six decimal places, with scientific notation for very small or large amounts.
