How this calculator works
Values are scaled to integers at six-decimal precision and divided by their greatest common divisor. Equivalent mode keeps B/A constant when the new A is supplied. A ratio of 0:0 is undefined; a ratio with just one zero can be simplified, but scaling from A=0 is undefined.
The formula
Simplified ratio = A/g : B/g after equal decimal scaling
Equivalent B = New A × B / A.
A quick example
20:30 simplifies to 2:3. For 2:3 = 10:x, x = 10 × 3 / 2 = 15.
How to use this calculator
- Choose simplification or equivalent-ratio mode.
- Enter A and B; equivalent mode also needs the new A.
- Calculate the simplest integer ratio and any missing equivalent value.
