Bandwidth Per User Calculator

Divide a monthly data-transfer allowance among users, or estimate the allowance required for a user base.

GB is decimal transfer volume, not a connection speed. Equal allocation is an average budget: heavy users may consume more, and billing can treat outbound, inbound, cached and regional traffic differently.

THE WORKING

How this calculator works

GB is decimal transfer volume, not a connection speed. Equal allocation is an average budget: heavy users may consume more, and billing can treat outbound, inbound, cached and regional traffic differently.

The formula

Per-user GB = monthly GB / users. Total GB = per-user GB × users.

A quick example

A 1,000 GB monthly allowance shared across 1,000 users averages 1 GB per user.

How to use this calculator

  1. Choose the settings that match your scenario, using the units shown beside each field.
  2. Enter number of users, monthly transfer allowance (gb), monthly transfer per user (gb).
  3. Calculate, then review the method and assumptions alongside the results.

A few common questions

Is this the same as Mbps per user?
No. GB measures transfer volume over a month; Mbps measures how fast data is transferred.
Are provider overage charges included?
No. Apply your provider’s prices and billing rules separately.
